26.2 With Donna Will Be An All-Island Event in 2019
Start/Finish line will be at Beaches Town Center.
The 26.2 with Donna marathon to finish breast cancer will have a new route in 2019 that will start and end at the Beaches Town Center.
Donna Deegan, the founder of The Donna Foundation, made the announcement at the Neptune Beach City Council meeting Monday night. “Every year, we say the biggest and best crowds and the most excitement is right here,” Deegan said. “And yet, half the field never gets to see the course.”
Deegan called the move an “incredible opportunity” to bring people to the Beaches Town Center. “We could not be more excited to have you host The Donna Marathon weekend. We are thrilled, and we think our field will be absolutely out of their minds.”
The course for the marathon has not yet been finalized. The Donna Marathon weekend will be February 8-10, and include a 5K, half marathon, marathon, ultramarathon and event challenges.
Deegan and local artist Kurtis Loftus also unveiled a new poster for the event, featuring “Queen Neptune” rising from the ocean and overlooking the Beaches Town Center.
